Episode 25: Otiosum's Tent
Bjorn, Lucky, Gallogk, Chip & Fearne prepare to travel southwest as guided by Gallogk's ring while Sankara communes with nature to foster new life in light of the death that befell Daekrahm. However, prior to leaving Bjorn and Gallogk discover a note in Lucky's room telling them that he's gone off to take care of some personal business and asking them to "trust him". Curious but confident in their friend, the rest of the party departs.
However, prior to departing, Bjorn and Gallogk do some shopping at Illyath's Sanctum and Calypso's Curiosities. [Insert Pretty Woman shopping montage.] Bjorn and Gallgok strike up a conversation with Illyath, the owner of Illyath's Sanctum.
Seeing her kindness, the duo offers their aid should she ever need it. She confesses to the two that she is worried about a new item that will be soon be put up for auction at Gnax's Auction House in Fairview. It's called the Bag of Monsters. An item this dangerous has never been put up for auction. She worries that this could mean trouble if it falls into the wrong hands. She gives the party 7,500 gp as escrow for bidding and says they can keep the remainder as a reward in addition to 1,000 gp each. The sidequest, The Highest Bid, is now available in Fairview.
Bjorn, Gallogk, Chip & Fearne arrive at the location pinged by the ring. A homely-looking tent stands before them no more than 10 feet wide. However, upon peering inside, they are met with a winding, carpeted hallway leading to a decadent lounge. They are met by an enchanted, painted portrait of the late Otiosum. It was on business to Vinheim that he fell victim to "some vampires", his ring taken as the next addition to their horde. His ring had an enchantment on it to lead the wearer to this location. It turns out, Otiosum in his laziness left much unfinished business. "It was so exhausting." He hopes the party before him is up to the task. If they are successful, he will allow Gallgok to continue the use of his ring. The party proves they are up to the challenge by gathering crystals and slaughtering monsters in the side rooms of this elaborate ten.
Otiosum's portrait tells the party of his last, exhausting, bit of unfinished business-- Baba (short for Bahamoot). A new trial is revealed: Bahamoot, Trial of Sloth. Otiosum yawns and explains that Baha was arcanely designed to neutralize anyone who was a threat to Otiosum. It is enchanted with abilities to conjure sands that slow and lull to sleep, sandstorms and lightning, and other "odds and ends" that may come in handy. Lastly, Bahamoot was an excellent place to keep some of Otiosum's keepsakes. Since he's now departed, the party is welcome to whatever bursts forth from the automaton after its defeat. The last known location of Baba is a little to the west and is pinged on the party's map-- equidistant from Glyyndarryl.
The episode ends with Bjorn and Gallogk agreeing that what comes next is best done as a complete party. The head back on the Devourer to Glynndarryl.
Now, what is going on with Lucky?
