The Ally System
The Ally System is a new tool available to the party once they reach Level 4.
Along the way, the decisions the party makes might reward them with new, powerful allies. The allies can travel, work, and fight alongside the party! A list of available allies will be kept current for player reference.
Rules:
The maximum number of allies in the party is 2.
Ally levels scale with the party based on the table below.
Players are responsible for playing the ally during combat. The ally goes on the Player Characters' initiative.
The ally may have an abbreviated spell/ability list per GM discretion.
Allies can be equipped with magical armor and items just like any Player Character.
Allies cannot hold or store any equipment they don't regularly use. They do not carry currency or partake in divisions of treasure.
Once per week, the Party can swap out allies. (This will be resolved narratively. For instance, although an ally can be dismissed at any time, it may take several days for a water-based ally to reach the middle of a desert.)
Ally Level Scaling:
Party Level 4-5: Ally Level -1
Party Level 6-10: Ally Level -2
Party Level 11-15: Ally Level -3
Party Level 16-20: Ally Level -4
